School projects by the Comenius programme

Education  and culture lifelong learning is a programme offered by the European commission.

The aim of the education  and culture lifelong learning programme is to contribute to the developpment of a quality education using the European collaboration : this cooperation is carried out in the respect of the educational system of each state and their specifications.

The Comenius programme (from the Education  and Training throughout One's Life programme) is meant to develop the European dimension in the field of education, by promoting exchange programmes and cooperation between schools.

The Comenius programme comprises various activities, including school projects.

The shool projects are meant to encourage the cooperation between groups of students and teachers from different European countries thanks to common topics chosen together. These projects must be part of the regular  activities and the curriculum of the school and the students concerned. The latter must get involved in all the stages of the project, from the planning to the evaluation, carried out by a team of teachers of different subjects.

Why Comenius ?

Jan Amos Komensky ( 1592-1660 ), known under the latin name of Comenius, was a writer, educationalist, philosopher, theologian, humanist and politician.

Born in Moravia (Czech Republic), Comenius, a member of the Unity of the Moravian brothers, moderate disciples of Jean Huss, after studies in Prag, in Germany and in Amsterdam, went back to Moravia where he became the head of a school advocating the adaptation of knowledge to each student. He is therefore one of the founders of the differentiated teaching.

Comenius pioneered school written exchanges, scholarships, a common and public school without any discrimination of background, origin, and sex. For him, permanent education was a necessity.
